Spiritual Business?

Spiritual Business?

“Lack of money is the root of all evil.”

By George Bernard Shaw

Is there such a thing as spiritual business? For many in the world, the concept or idea of a successful business person goes against their spiritual teachings. Some believe it is not righteous to be successful and rich. Well, what if I were to tell you that it is possible for you to be successful in business and spiritually aligned? I understand that many of you would shake their heads and tell me that I am way off.

It is possible to have both, because it is possible to have a business that is influenced by the Divine living within each one of us.  Our dreams and passions and things that make our hearts sing with joy are all given to us by the Divine. The Divine wants us to live our lives with our Gifts and Dreams. The Divine wants and is able to take our Dreams and turn them into reality. The Divine wants us to share our Passions and Dreams with the world. For, to live a life without Dreams and Passions is a dull life indeed and could even be one of  utter suffering.

Now, what about business and making money you may ask? The trick here is not to follow money for money’s sake, but to follow your heart. Following money for the sake of money is how a lot of the disharmony in the world is manifested. But let’s say that you absolutely love painting animals. Then by all means paint animals. Now, you’re not making any money yet now are you? However, let’s say that someone sees you painting in the park where there just so happens to be a lot of people walking their dogs. You are absolutely capturing someone’s beloved golden retriever on canvas, and someone sees you – and guess what – they love it! Before you know it, you’re being asked how much you charge and will you paint their beloved little Fifi next Saturday.

You look down and think that little Fifi is adorable, and so you say yes. You now have the opportunity for a business doing something that you love to do – painting animals. These animals are part of God’s majesty and handiwork by the way, and you love capturing them on canvas as a sort of devotional to God. Now, how great is Life! Being paid to do something that you absolutely love to do is what people dream of, and definitely a part of prosperity.

The thing is to keep your love for painting animals in your heart as the reason behind your work, not the making of money as the number one goal above all else. It wouldn’t be the same to paint these beautiful creations of God just to earn a paycheck. That’s a

J-O-B. The energy behind doing something just for a paycheck is much lower that the energy of doing something you love and just happen to be paid for it. Feel the difference between: “Well, I have to go into work today. I am painting three dachshunds and a macaw. It’ll be great to make that money, because I could surely use it. “ and

“Wow! Today’s going to be great. I have three beautiful little dachshunds to paint and a colorful macaw. When was the last time I painted a macaw? The money keeps pouring in too. God sure does take care of me. I am definitely blessed.”

Feel the difference between the two statements, the first one is out of obligation; the second one is out of joy! Now, what if she starts offering painting classes with others so that others may share in the joy her passion brings. Sure she’s making money that way too, and absolutely loving it. She now has two different streams of income, some of which I am sure she can divert into investing into a venture that she loves and with which she feels a connection. She can possibly even have a student that is also just as talented as she is, and shares her joy at painting animals. She may be able to open another location across town. She now has two shops. Do you see how things can go once you are working with your passion?

The other key is to offer gratitude for being able to live such a joyous life as well as gratitude for the money. Money is a tool given to us by the Divine so that we can fully experience life and be free. We can learn about exotic cultures, art, architecture, help a loved one, surround ourselves in expressions of beauty, live our Dreams and yes even help those in need. Money allows us to do and experience all of these things. It is when there is a perceived shortage of money that “evil” can take place.

Thank you for reading, and as always it is a pleasure to post!

To your prosperity,
